The Main Menu

If the main menu is closed, you open it via the menu icon (the three stacked bars) at the top left of the application. In addition, you can open the main menu via the shortcut "M".

As long as you do not close the menu again, it will remain open on the left-hand side of the screen.

If you want to close the menu again, click on the menu icon at the top left or hit "M" on the keyboard.

You can use the mouse to resize the menu. After having resized the menu, this setting will be saved and the menu will be displayed in this size every time.

☝️ Hint: The former "My planner" menu item has been replaced by the "Calendar" menu item as part of the Monster release.

Right under the last menu item, there is the Show more button, the other menu items Users, Clients and Settings will be displayed with (if you are allowed to see them). You can then hide these again by clicking on Show less.

Finding settings

In the settings, you'll find access to these settings pages in awork:

  • General

  • Teams

  • Categories

  • Templates

  • Permissions

  • Integrations

  • Manage subscription

☝️ Hint: New projects, new times, new users and new clients can be created using the plus button to the right of the Projects, Times, Users and Clients menu items.

Getting help

You can access our help menu via the icon with the question mark at the top right of the main menu. From here, you can access our help center, start our support chat on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., or submit an error or feedback ticket.

Search field

You can use the search field to search through the projects and task filters. You can enter a text or search by user, client, team and tag. If you e.g. enter a user here, you will be shown all the projects to which they are assigned to. A prerequisite for the search results is, of course, that you can view the projects and task filters of your user rights accordingly. The results are displayed regardless of the project status, with the exception of done projects. You can display these via the "Incl. done projects" toggle.

☝️ Hint: If you enter a text and search for a project, you will also be shown projects on which you are not assigned to.

Projects in main menu

In addition to the main menu items above, awork shows you a selection of projects directly in the main menu.

Favorites

You have two options for marking projects as favorites or removing them again:

  • via the small star icon to the right of the project name in the main menu

  • directly on the details page of a project via the star icon in the top right-hand corner

These favorites are then fixed in the main menu and are permanently visible (alphabetical order). There is no limit to how many projects you can mark as favorites. As soon as 10 projects are displayed here, the "Show more" button appears, which you can use to display more than 10 favorite projects.

☝️ Hint: You can favor all projects that you can find using the search function in the main menu.

My projects

Under My projects you can see your current projects - i.e. projects to which you are assigned to and which have the project status in progress (yellow).

The projects are displayed here in alphabetical order.

As soon as 10 projects are displayed here, the "Show more" button appears, which you can use to display more than 10 projects.

Task filters

You can view, edit, delete and create new task filters via the Task filter menu item.

As soon as 10 task filters are displayed here, the "Show more" button appears, which you can use to display more than 10 task filters.

To edit or delete a task filter, hover with your mouse pointer over the corresponding filter in the filter dropdown. A pencil icon and a trash icon will then appear, allowing you to edit or delete the filter.

☝️ Important: The My Tasks filter cannot be edited or deleted.

☝️ Hint: You can create a new task filter using the plus button to the right of the task filter menu item.

My teams' projects

Your teams' current projects are listed here. This means that if a project belongs to your team, you are assigned to the project and the project has the project status in progress (yellow), it will be displayed here sorted by team.

As soon as 10 projects are displayed here, the "Show more" button appears, which you can use to display more than 10 projects of your team.

Search field

You can use the search field directly above the favorites to search through the projects and task filters.

I don't see all the specified menu items. What can I do?

The menu items are linked to the user rights you have in your awork workspace. If you do not see some menu items, it is because you do not have sufficient rights to view them.

The best way is to contact your internal awork administrator.

☝️Hint: If the admin of the workspace has deactivated time tracking for all users, the menu items Times and Time reports are hidden.

The App Header

The app header is located at the top of your screen. It contains the button for the main menu, the title of the currently displayed page, as well as your user menu, your current notifications, and the quick action button.

The back-button

At various points in awork, you will find an arrow at the top left of the navigation history that you can use to return to the previous page.

Navigation history

The page title also has a very handy function: Clicking on the title opens a menu with

  • a search function in which you can search for projects, users, clients and tasks

  • your 5 most recently viewed pages in awork

  • your favorites

This allows you to quickly and easily jump back and forth between pages.

User Menu

You'll find the user menu on the far right by clicking on your profile picture or your initials. From here, you'll be able to access your profile settings, where you can, for example, edit your user, change your password or adjust your notifications.

Directly in the user menu, you'll also be able to switch to another workspace (if you are in multiple awork workspaces with the same account), change the language, switch between dark and light mode, download the Desktop app, recommend awork and log out.

Further Navigation

Sub navigation

You will find sub-navigations on some pages in awork. With these tabs, you're able to navigate between different subpages and change views, which usually belong to the same area, such as within a project. awork remembers the tab you were last on, which means that if you click on the project again, you will be taken straight back to this tab.

Actions

Almost everywhere in awork, you will find a button with the three dots, the action button, at the right edge of lists or at the top right of detailed views. You can use this button to access the action menu where you're able to edit, delete or copy the respective object.

In awork, you will also see an action bar at the top right of some pages, which offers you various functions depending on the page you are currently on. In the project overview, for example, you have the option to change the view, search for a project, group projects, create and manage project filters, select the displayed columns and export the content.
